“Procurement,” according to Wikipedia, is the act of locating and agreeing on terms and conditions for acquiring products, services, or works from an external source, usually through a competitive bidding procedure.

The procurement of goods and services for the hotel, restaurant, and resort industries is the main emphasis of hospitality procurement.

The following are the three most important areas of hospitality procurement:

  • Sourcing
  • Contracts and terms of payment
  • Replacement and Removal

Sourcing

Finding vendors and gathering pricing information are all part of the sourcing process. When shopping for the hotel business, product quality and longevity are crucial.

Contract and payment terms

Contract and payment terms with suppliers are critical since they affect your budget and overall purchasing strategy.

Replacement and removal

It’s also crucial to keep track of your supplies’ expected life spans when they need to be changed or replaced and, in the case of furniture, the procedure of removing the prior supplies.

However, that isn’t the only requirement for a good procurement plan.

You should also think about the following details:

Have you tried to get the greatest deal, or have you just paid the sticker price?

Are you maximising your savings with effective procurement software?

Is your purchasing strategy adaptable enough to deal with supply chain issues?

Have you created a policy for your company and properly conveyed it to your employees?

Are your policies consistent with your sustainability goals?

Have you changed your procedures to accommodate current materials and design?

As you can see, procurement can save you time and money, but if done incorrectly, it can also jeopardise and undermine your whole goals and plans.

Look no farther than the IHS Network if you require procurement assistance. We are delighted to promote the services of CPNA Management & Services, Core Insights Group, and LifeCycle Facilitation Services at Inside Hospitality Solutions.
