Inside Hospitality Solutions is excited to share the news that RCI, the world’s premier vacation exchange company, has announced the winners of its highly anticipated annual RCI Green Awards program. This esteemed program recognizes RCI-affiliated resorts that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to environmentally sustainable resort operations practices.
The winners were selected by GreenCircle Certified, LLC, a respected third-party eco-certification expert, based on nominations from RCI affiliates in the North American region. The resorts were evaluated on their advancements in energy and water conservation, waste management, community outreach, and environmental management.
“We are thrilled to unveil the winners of the annual RCI Green Awards and commend these three outstanding resorts for their dedication to sustainability in our industry,” stated Richard Ruff, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of RCI North America. “By showcasing these remarkable achievements, we aim to inspire all resorts within the RCI network to play their part in protecting the environment while delivering unforgettable vacation experiences to owners and guests.”
The highest accolade, the Platinum Award, was bestowed upon Club Wyndham Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The resort was recognized for its remarkable commitment to energy efficiency, with more than 75% of lighting across the entire property being energy-efficient. Additionally, the resort incorporates renewable energy sources throughout its amenities and boasts a staff-led sustainability committee that meets quarterly.
Taking home the Gold RCI Green Award is Club Wyndham Palm-Aire in Pompano Beach, Florida. The resort has implemented energy-efficient beverage machines throughout the property to keep guests cool while minimizing energy consumption. Furthermore, water-efficient showerheads, sink faucets, and toilet fixtures have been installed to encourage responsible water use.
The Silver RCI Green Award was presented to The Cliffs at Princeville in Kauai, Hawaii. This resort leverages renewable energy sources to reduce its reliance on grid energy. The property has also invested in third-party energy audits and offers resort guests access to electric vehicle (EV) car rentals by the hour, including Tesla Model 3s, through the Envoy Mobility app.
The RCI Green Award program is open to all RCI affiliates in North America and serves as a testament to RCI’s commitment to sustainability. RCI also provides a Green Resource Center on its affiliate website, offering valuable resources to developers seeking to expand their sustainability efforts. The application process for next year’s RCI Green Awards program will commence in the fall of this year.
