Every marketing professional has had just over a year following the launch of the ChatGPT AI platform in November 2022.

With new “prompts” (queries submitted to gain a response) and AI variants launching every day, AI is only set to become more and more paramount to business marketing practices and strategies throughout 2024.

Google’s Gemini and Bard, in particular, are vying to take the lead in AI platform development as a further enhancement of their search engine performance.

Yes, there is much talk about taking over or disappearing job roles, speed of content delivery and more expansion into image and video AI, yet most businesses have missed a crucial step.

The responses (answers) to ChatGPT AI queries are a direct result of YOUR brand/product/service visibility in comparison to YOUR competitors.

If you are not already visible, ChatGPT will not use your brand or content in the query responses. It cannot respond with information it does not know!

How do you know if your business is in the AI knowledge base?

Search engine optimization is a long-established technical and content process to increase your search engine ranking positions (SERPS).

Throughout September, October and November, Google launched a series of algorithm updates that included acknowledgement of AI systems and which also impacted numerous websites’ ranking and visibility.

Google wishes to enhance and continue to deliver the best possible website results to match individual searches.

ChatGPT has been developed to operate in a similar manner, delivering the best possible answers to AI search queries.

Are you visible?

Do you already use ChatGPT? If not, scroll down…

If the answer is YES, then try entering a series of queries (prompts) about:

  • Your brand
  • Your products
  • Your services
  • Your promotions
  • Your key staff

Throughout our own trials, we uncovered some very eye-opening responses that have led to the in-house implementation of several marketing, social media, video, website and SEO amendments.

The visibility improvement has more than justified the decision to undertake an AI review.

The next step is then to widen your queries to focus on your competitors.

Start with a list of known competitors. You can expand that list with competitors who appear in search engine results for your brand, products or services keywords or phrases.

Then use ChatGPT to discover what it knows about your business in direct comparison to your competitors.

You can then broaden your queries with specific prompts aimed at your competition only.

The team at IHS has created 25 query prompts to utilise as marketing competitor research. We will be sending a copy of these prompts to all the companies in our Provider Network so they can start to check their visibility and their competitors!

Again, our own results identified key improvements to our AI marketing strategy.

Not using ChatGPT yet?

Many of our suppliers and members have acknowledged that they do not have the time or internal resources to complete an AI review or often, to even maintain digital marketing strategy processes.

IHS Marketing can offer a ‘done for you’ audit review to embrace all or individual elements of the following:

  • ChatGPT – AI Review
  • ChatGPT – AI Competitor Analysis
  • Website performance audit
  • SEO audit
  • Content marketing audit/keyword research
  • Social media review
  • Video/YouTube channel review
  • Business strategy process review

Contact the IHS Marketing team now to discuss how we can help you use AI in 2024.

Do you have any industry knowledge, experience, or news you’d like to share? Why not send us your press releases, survey results, news, and articles? We will review them and may publish them on the IHS website Just complete the contact form and get in touch.
