Celebrating the American Dream in the Birthplace of American Independence
AAHOACON26 brought hotel owners, operators, brands, vendors, lenders, and industry partners to the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia from April 8-10, 2026. The location gave this year’s convention a fitting backdrop. Philadelphia is preparing for America’s 250th anniversary, and the city’s connection to the start of American independence worked naturally with AAHOA’s 2026 theme: Liberty, Legacy, Leadership.
The event was organized and produced by the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, AAHOA. This year’s convention drew about 5,300 attendees and nearly 500 exhibitors, with education sessions, keynote programs, networking events, a large trade show floor, and two competitions that brought hotel technology and student talent into the spotlight.
Event Highlights
Keynotes and main‑stage sessions emphasized advocacy, unity, and practical ways owners can protect their businesses and their margins while navigating an everchanging environment filled with labor challenges and higher operating costs. AAHOA leadership highlighted the association’s recent legislative wins and community‑driven initiatives, underscoring that collective advocacy is as critical to hotel owners’ long‑term success as operational management and efficiency.
AAHOA Officers connected the event’s Philadelphia setting with the association’s broader story of entrepreneurship and resilience and also tied the convention theme to the everyday work of hotel ownership, noting that the same drive behind the country’s founding is visible in the work of today’s hotel owners.
The keynote program mixed motivation, business perspective, and humor. Rahul Kapoor returned to the AAHOACON stage with a message focused on resilience and personal performance. Paul Brown, CEO of Inspire Brands, brought a broader hospitality and franchising perspective from a restaurant portfolio that includes brands such as Arby’s, Dunkin’, Jimmy John’s, Sonic, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Baskin-Robbins. Comedian Rajiv Satyal added a lighter but still relevant voice, especially for an audience where family, culture, and entrepreneurship are often part of the same story.
The education program focused on issues owners are dealing with now. Sessions covered lending, artificial intelligence, profitability, property management systems, family business planning, franchise law, culture, and asset diversification. The best sessions gave owners something they could take back to their properties: a better way to look at expenses, a smarter question to ask a lender, or a new tool to test with staff.
A topic filled with uncertainty for many but also tremendous opportunity is AI. In the standing room only session, “From Buzzword to Bottom Line: AI tools Every Hotel Owner Should Know” moderator Frank Mulcahy led a panel discussion on practical, owner-focused AI tools that improve pricing, streamline operations, enhance guest engagement, and protect margins. Frank encouraged the audience to not just use AI as a search tool but to incorporate contextual framing to solve problems.
Highlights from the Trade Show Floor
For independent and franchised hotels alike, AdcommTV provides in-room entertainment, hospitality TVs, DIRECTV solutions, casting, internet, low-voltage installation, PTACs, safes, minibars, mounts, remotes, and other guestroom technology. For hotel owners planning a room refresh or entertainment upgrade, the company can help simplify sourcing by combining several guest-facing technology and equipment categories under one provider.
AviaSim offers realistic flight simulator experiences in cockpit-style environments. For hotels, resorts, and destination properties, flight simulator packages can be used for local partnerships, group travel, family packages, meeting breaks, or destination marketing.
Blaze Away by Aroma Country is an odor eliminator made for difficult smells, including smoke and pet odors. For hotels, it can help recover rooms faster after smoking violations, pet stays, trash odors, bathroom odors, or other situations that can lead to complaints or out-of-order inventory.
Bridge helps hotel owners connect with financing options for building, buying, or refinancing properties. The company is also tied to AAHOALending.com, which gives AAHOA members another way to review loan options and bring structure to the financing process.
CMP Water helps hotels reduce water and sewer costs through its AquaFlow-powered valve technology. The company promotes savings without asking properties to reduce guest consumption, which makes the solution especially relevant for hotels that want lower utility costs without changing the guest experience. For owners, the appeal is tied to NOI. Water and sewer bills are recurring expenses, and savings in that category can have a direct effect on property performance. CMP Water also promotes a 90-day trial and ROI in 3–12 months, giving operators a clear way to evaluate whether the system works for their property.
Danby manufactures compact refrigeration and specialty appliances used in hospitality, extended stay, senior living, student housing, and small-space environments. Hotel teams can use Danby and MicroFridge-style products for guestroom replacements, suite upgrades, extended-stay rooms, staff areas, and renovation projects.
For properties that need tighter systems, stronger revenue discipline, better oversight, or help turning performance around, Daryon Hotels International provides hotel management and consulting services with a focus on operations, revenue management, marketing, technology, and performance improvement.
DwarPaal offers smart hotel technology focused on automation, guest engagement, and connected property systems. For budget, midscale, and independent hotels, tools like these can help reduce manual work, speed up guest communication, and create a more modern stay experience without adding pressure to lean teams.
EDS Service Solutions provides hospitality staffing, workforce support, and business process outsourcing in more than 100 markets. Its hospitality services cover areas such as housekeeping, food and beverage, events, and operational staffing. For hotels managing labor shortages, fluctuating occupancy, group business, banquet demand, or housekeeping coverage gaps, EDS offers a way to add staffing support without building every role in-house. The company also promotes Workforce Velocity™, a platform for applicant tracking, onboarding, scheduling, timekeeping, and performance monitoring. That matters for operators who need flexible labor but still want control, visibility, and consistency.
Fill it Forward partners with hotels to create reuse programs that reduce single-use waste, engage guests, drive revenue opportunities, and deliver measurable environmental impact. Through branded reusable products, interactive technology, and charitable giving initiatives, properties can enhance the guest experience while supporting sustainability goals and giving back with every reuse.
FloWater provides premium water refill stations for hotels and other hospitality settings. For properties, the business case is practical: reduce bottled water purchasing, lower plastic waste, and give guests a better water amenity in lobbies, fitness centers, meeting areas, or guest corridors.
HD Supply is a major supplier for hospitality maintenance, repair, operations, OS&E, FF&E, linens, amenities, guestroom accessories, appliances, cleaning supplies, pool products, safety equipment, and facility maintenance. For hotel teams, the main advantage is consolidation. Instead of ordering from many suppliers, operators can source a wide range of daily operating and maintenance products through one platform. For multi-property owners and management companies, that can help with consistency, budgeting, recurring orders, and faster replacement of items that affect guest satisfaction. HD Supply is especially useful for teams that need dependable access to both front-of-house and back-of-house products, from guestroom supplies to maintenance parts.
Hotel Geofencing provides location-based digital advertising for hotels. Properties can use geofencing to target travelers, local demand generators, competitor locations, event venues, hospitals, corporate campuses, or recruiting audiences, then retarget those mobile users with ads tied to bookings, extended stays, walk-ins, or hiring needs.
Impulsify provides grab-and-go retail solutions for hotels, including retail POS, inventory management, and self-service kiosks. For hotels with lobby markets, the company can help increase retail revenue, reduce front desk interruptions, and give guests a faster way to buy snacks, drinks, and convenience items.
Pool Shark H2O replaces paper pool logs with a cloud-based pool management and chemical recording platform. Hotel teams can use it to record water tests, calculate chemical dosing, train staff more easily, and keep health-department-ready records for one pool or multiple properties.
AAHOACON Tech Pitch Competition
The AAHOACON Tech Pitch Competition, co-powered by HFTP, featured companies presenting technology products for hotel owners and operators. The competition focused on tools that could help with operations, revenue, guest communication, purchasing, parking, insurance, and front desk support.
Participating companies included:
Lilo helps hotels manage purchasing, vendor sourcing, negotiations, financing, and invoice consolidation. Its value to hoteliers is a more organized way to buy supplies and reduce procurement friction.
Ocra helps hotels and parking asset owners make more money from unused parking inventory. Its AI-powered platform is especially relevant for hotels near airports, convention centers, downtown districts, and other parking demand generators.
Roomiy Finance gives hotels a prepaid distribution and liquidity option tied to future room nights. For owners, the product can help with seasonal cash flow, payroll, PIPs, and other capital needs without using a traditional loan structure.
Sadie AI is a voice AI front desk agent built for hotels. It can answer calls, provide hotel information, share availability and rates, and help with reservations, which can reduce missed calls and take pressure off the front desk.

TakeUp AI provides AI revenue management software for independent hotels, inns, B&Bs, boutique properties, and glamping operators. It helps smaller properties adjust rates, forecast demand, and reduce manual pricing work.
VSR Network Technologies provides cloud communications, PBX, messaging, and AI tools for hospitality. Hotels can use its products to manage guest communication across voice, text, chat, and email.
WithCoverage is a digital insurance and risk management platform for businesses, including hospitality customers. It helps operators manage policies, claims, risk advice, and insurance information in one place.
Winners: Sadie AI won first place, Roomiy Finance placed second, and Ocra placed third.
AAHOA Hotel Turnaround Collegiate Championship
AAHOACON26 also hosted the AAHOA Collegiate Championship: Hotel Turnaround Competition, powered by Russell Partnership Technology. Student teams used the HOTELsim platform to manage underperforming hotel assets and make decisions tied to staffing, marketing, capital investment, operations, and financial performance.
Twelve teams from 10 universities competed. Each team started with the same hotel in the same market. From there, students made decisions over multiple rounds and were judged through a balanced scorecard. Participating schools included Cornell University, Florida International University, Grand Valley State University, Kennesaw State University, Northwestern State University, Oklahoma State University, Temple University, University of Houston, University of South Carolina, and Virginia Tech.
Results: Grand Valley State University won the Judges’ Championship Trophy. The University of South Carolina won the People’s Choice Award.
Looking Forward
Philadelphia provided the right setting for this year’s event. AAHOACON26 was a reminder of how closely hotel ownership is tied to the American Dream. Conversations focused on growing that American Dream in a very practical sense: owning assets, creating jobs, building family businesses, and finding better ways to run hotels in a difficult market.
Ankur Patel summarized the importance of continuing the legacy, “The first generation built the foundation, it’s our responsibility to build the future by honoring our past and investing in our future”.
AAHOA has announced that AAHOACON27 will take place in Anaheim, California.
